Sophia Stel: 2nd late-night Melbourne show announced

    28 Oct 2026

‘It’s a brilliantly bold bit of bravado’ – DORK

    ‘[Stel’s] most audacious and self-assured move yet” – i-D

‘Having ticked off so many achievements so quickly, why shouldn’t she call her debut LP “The Greatest Album of all Time”?’ – The Guardian

Due to overwhelming demand with her first Melbourne show officially sold out, promoters are pleased to announce a second and final late-night show in Melbourne for Vancouver-born, New York-based global artist-to-watch Sophia Stel.

Hailed as one of alt-pop’s most exciting new voices, Stel arrives in Australia this December following a breakout year that continues to gather momentum. A new 10pm late-night show on Thursday 10 December at venue The Night Cat has been added today, giving fans a second chance to catch Stel onstage when she makes her live debut in Australia this summer. Tickets for the just-added date go on sale this Friday – head to frontiertouring.com/sophiastel for full info.

Sydney: this is a low-ticket warning for the ‘Molly In The Club’ singer’s performance at Oxford Art Factory on Saturday 12 December.

    WATCH: Sophia Stel – ‘Power’

Released October 16 via label 24 Music/Virgin Music, Stel’s highly anticipated debut record – the cheekily titled the greatest album of all time – is being celebrated for its confident, hazy electropop. New single ‘I Do’ was added to triple j this week, while indie bible Pitchfork awarded the album 8.0, writing: “Casual but never unconsidered, the Canadian songwriter’s porous blend of pop, trip-hop, and hip-hop evokes late-night group hangs and intense body highs.”

Following the release of earlier EPs How To Win At Solitaire and Object Permanence, Stel’s assured, largely self-produced new album has won over fans and critics alike, thanks to its dancefloor bangers, bittersweet party energy, and standout cuts. Profiled in the latest edition of i-D (read here), Stel’s self-assured album is seriously cool:

‘Already sounds like a classic’ – POP

‘An emphatically distinctive and personal piece of avant-pop’ – CLASH

‘This confessional electropop album is clearly for herself as much as it is for anyone else, and oh boy, is it good’ – Monster Children

Following a slot opening for Lorde at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum in March and a 22-date EU/US headline run, Stel has earned acclaim from Pitchfork, DAZED, Wonderland, The FADER, CRACK Magazine, Zane Lowe, CLASH, Pigeons & Planes, Gorilla vs. Bear and Hearing Things. Along the way, she has graced the covers of NME and The Face, walked for Ann Demeulemeester at Paris Fashion Week, performed at Pitchfork Festival Paris, and appeared in campaigns for Palace Skateboards.
